Abstract
Literary studies as a scientific discipline involve examining and analyzing literature using various approaches to explore issues and social problems present in literary
works, including films. The aim of this study is to analyze the film "Nomadland" from the perspective of Karl Marx's Marxist theory, focusing on understanding the dynamics of social class, economic exploitation, and class conflict revealed in the film's narrative, identifying the impact of social change depicted through the main and supporting characters, and exploring the relevance of Marxist theory in the context of contemporary society. This study provides in- depth insights into the social messages conveyed by the film "Nomadland" and how Marxist theory can be applied to understand the social dynamics implicit in visual literary works. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method to analyze the presence of social issues and their impact on the characters' lives. This study found two types of social
issues based on Marx's perspective, namely social class injustice and labor exploitation, represented through the storyline, dialogue, and characters. On the other hand, two impacts were also identified: alienation (self-alienation and labor alienation) and modern nomadic life.
