Abstract

Ecofeminism revolves around a group of women or activist who assert that the environment shares similarities with women because both endure oppression, inequitable treatment, powerlessness, and exploitation. This study aims to explain the issues of oppression and unfair behaviour in the novel Frozen II: Forest of Shadow (2019). This study uses Francoide d'Eaubonne's ecofeminist theory. The research employed a descriptive qualitative method to examine the underlying factors influencing women's caring and protective attitude towards nature in the novel Frozen II: Forest f Shadow (2019). This study found that there are four backgrounds that underlie the main character's caring attitude: responsibility, ecological awareness, hard work, and justice for living things. Ecofeminist theory divides the representation of the main character's movement into three elements. Firstly, the natural ecofeminist is evident in Elsa's action as she works to restore and preserve her environment showcasing her feminist beliefs. Secondly, the social-construction ecofeminist emphasizes the importance of actively addressing environmental issues by focusing on restoration of nature rather than solely relying on recommendations from experts and the royal council. Thirdly, the social-transformative ecofeminist demonstrates Elsa's character's increased proximity to and engagement in the restoration of the plague-damaged environment. The findings indicate that the main character plays a significant role in restoration and preservation of the environment in the novel Frozen II: Forest of Shadow (2019). Additionally, the study highlights women's continued involvement and caring attitude towards the preservation of the surrounding ecosystem.
