Abstract
The purpose of this study is to identify the types of discrimination that subaltern women face when they are caught between several hegemonic power regimes that restrict their access and to demonstrate how these women cope with the prejudice they face in spite of all of their constraints. This study employs Gayatri Spivak's Subaltern theory and a descriptive qualitative research methodology. The primary female character in Marie Benedict's book The Other Einstein is the subject of this investigation. The protagonist of this book is a bright woman who faces challenges in the male-dominated and alien to women field of science in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It is appropriate to compare this book to Gayatri Spivak's subaltern theory. Spivak asserts that all women are subalterns in patriarchal societies. Subaltern women are silenced and unable to express themselves; when they do, different oppressive power structures will distort or silence them. The study's findings revealed 21 data points that support the problem formulation, including three for the abolition of intellectual roles, three for gender and geopolitical discrimination, three for social discrimination, three for domestic discrimination, three for battling with education, three for producing works, and three for self-determination. This analysis demonstrates how Maric's persona captures the reality of voiceless subalterns whose presence is disregarded by the established order.
