Abstract
Literature is a stylized form of language that can help express human expression.The meaning of literature varies according to the context in which it is discussed, and one of the simple but important aspects of language is deixis. Deixis is a linguistic element that refers to something in a specific context, such as person, place, or time, whose meaning can only be understood if the situation or context of the conversation is known. This study aims to analyze the function of deixis in Deddy Corbuzier's podcast that brought in the Palestinian ambassador using deixis theory according to George Yule (1996).The research gap in this study is the gap found in previous studies,in previous studies only identified the types of deixis, and most of the data focused on person deixis. This creates an opportunity for researchers to explore and examine the function of deixis, especially to find out whether the function of deixis can identify the message to be conveyed in Deddy Corbuzier's podcast. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method to analyze the deixis contained in the sentences in the data, which consists of (30) deixis of person, (52) deixis of place, and (14) deixis of time. The most dominant deixis expression used in Deddy Corbuzier's podcast is place deixis, with a total of 52 data, which mostly refers to locations related to Palestine and Israel. This finding shows that the use of place deixis in the discourse has an important role in emphasizing the geographical and political relations at the core of the discussion.
