Abstract
When communicating,women often use women's language features to help their conversations.Therefore, this study aims to identify the use of features and functions of women's language by applying Robin Tolmach Lakoff’s Theory of women’s language.The data in this study were taken from conversations between the female characters of the Madrigal family.This research uses descriptive qualitative method to analyze and describe the use of features and functions found in Encanto movie. The results of this study found that there were 140 data but only 25 data will be analyzed.The female characters in the Madrigal family use ten of the eleven features of the women’s language.The most frequently used feature is hypercorrect grammar,this is because the Madrigal family is the most respected family in the city of Encanto and lives in a palace, so female characters are required to be polite and in accordance with grammatical standards in order to maintain the order of language and culture. Each women's language feature has its own function, in this study there are 13 kinds of functions according to the women's language features.The most frequently used function is maintained literacy and culture.The conclusion of this study is that female characters use a lot of women’s language features in conversation and it can be concluded that the female characters of the Madrigal family are described as a woman who always speak politely and according to grammatical standards.This function so that literacy and culture in the city of Encanto are well maintained and also so that the relationship between the Madrigal family can be emotionally well maintained.
