Abstract
Judas and The Black Messiah movie is one of the movies with a racism theme that depicts an actual event that focuses on O'Neal's betrayal of Hampton in the late 1960s, directed by Shaka King. Judas and The Black Messiah movie tells a true story that happened in Chicago as a form of betrayal of black youth to leak the actions of the black community to the national federal agency; the study was to determine the types of forms of racist actions and how racism is represented in the film Judas and The Black Messiah carried out by state institutions, namely the police and the FBI in Judas and the Black Messiah (2021). This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach with descriptive analysis techniques to analyze data. Furthermore, this study was analyzed using Roland Barthes' semiotic theory, classified into 3 forms of racist actions, and 12 data were obtained. One data is in the form of FBI stereotypes, and one data is in the form of Police stereotypes. Two data are in the form of FBI prejudice. Two data are in the form of FBI Discrimination and six data are in the form of Police Discrimination. The signs of racism obtained are the results of Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis with two meanings, namely denotation, connotation and myth. The data results are in the form of non-verbal and verbal scenes. Members of the Black Panther Party were labeled as a criminal group by the government and declared a threat to national security. Thus, this makes black characters have to suffer every day through physical attacks from the police and FBI.
