Abstract

Friendship is a mutually beneficial type of social connection. Friendship is defined as a relationship that involves emotions and understanding of each other. This is a basic need in social life. A strong friendship has the power to shape social beliefs and foster personal growth in individuals. Ron’s Gone Wrong animated film is a work of visual literature that raises the issue of friendship. Sarah Smith directs the film, which explores social issues related to today’s sophisticated technology. The film depicts the narrative of the camaraderie between a juvenile individual named Barney and a malfunctioning robot named Ron. This movie is a strong representation of how true friendship can thrive in an era of technological advancement. This research focuses on identifying the aspects of friendship depicted in the film Ron’s Gone Wrong and how it aligns with social values in influencing individual attitudes to build beneficial relationships. This study incorporates Geoffrey L. Greif’s theory on understanding friendship and Zubaedi’s views on social values as auxiliary frameworks. Moreover, this study employed a qualitative descriptive approach, which involved presenting textual descriptions. The finding revealed four key aspects of friendship: aspects of being understood, trust loyalty, dependability, and doing things together. Additionally, the study identified six factors that influence social values, including kinship value, sense of belonging, mutual help, empathy, concern and loyalty. The study’s findings indicate that many elements of friendship have a significant impact on social values, ultimately contributing to the establishment of stronger community bonds.
