Abstract
“News of The World” merupakan salah satu film karya Paul Greengrass yang diadaptasi dari Novel “News of The World” karya Paulette Jiles. Novel dan Film ini mengisahkan tentang Veteran Perang Sipil yang menghabiskan masa tuanya dengan berkelana sebagai pembawa berita. Oleh karena itu, Kapten Jefferson Kyle Kidd sering melakukan perjalanan ke beberapa kota di seluruh dunia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membuktikan bahwa transformasi dari novel dan film memiliki perbedaan dan persamaan yang diterima oleh masyarakat terutama oleh pembaca dan penonton, walaupun adanya ekranisasi antara novel ke film namun inti dari cerita masih tersampaikan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini ialah deskriptif-kualitatif untuk menganalisis data. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat persamaan dan perbedaan pada unsur struktural yang diakibatkan karena adanya ekranisasi berupa perubahan, penghilangan serta penambahan yang berdampak pada apresiasi baik dan kurang baik dari pembaca dan penonton Novel dan Film “News of the World”. Oleh karena itu, terdapat relevansi pada cerita antara karya sastra novel dan karya sastra film “News of the World”.
